Plans for 2011!

New Species!

We are cutting back on our Hahn's Macaws, and other New World species and focusing more on the Poicephalus birds. To that end, we are planning to offer Red-Bellieds, Orange vested Senegals, and Meyers Parrots as well as Timneh Greys in 2010-2011.

Shipping is safe and easy!

Our babies are used to the shipping carriers as we use them in our nursery for play time. When a baby is ready to ship, we will make shipping arrangements with the airline of our choice. The first choice is usually Continental. We ship out of SMF (Sacramento) airport. Inside the crate will be a perch and enough dry and hydrating foods to last 24 hours, should the unthinkable happen and the flight get delayed.

You will be given a reference number and flight information. You'll also have the time and date of arrival. You need to drive to either the cargo office of the shipping airline, or the baggage claim area - depending on where we tell you to pick the bird up. Have your photo ID with you and the reference number.

When you arrive home, please open the door to the crate and talk gently to your baby. Give your baby the opportunity to come out on its own before you reach in and take him or her out. Keep talking to the baby so it can get used to your voice and relax. Once the baby is out, feel free to snuggle it a bit, but then put the baby in its cage. Make sure to have food and water dishes on the floor of the cage at first, as the babies are used to that. You should also place food and water up higher in the cage. The baby will soon use the normal dishes and within a couple of days, you can remove the ones on the floor.

One of the questions we always get asked is "Why isn't my baby drinking?". Your baby is drinking, you just don't see it. Keep in mind, that fresh foods are going to offer a lot of hydration and your baby may not require actual water after chewing on melons and apples and other watery fruit while in transit.

Once your baby is safely in your hands, please email or call us to let us know everything's fine. We ship a lot, but we fret with every shipment. These babies are special to us. So, please let us know ASAP!
